Objectives and Scopes
The educational program in Obstetrics and Gynecology is designed to teach students female physiology in infancy, childhood and adolescence, reproductive endocrinology during menstruating years, management of pregnancy and delivery and understanding of changes in post menopausal years.

          The program includes, the management of normal and abnormal obstetrical conditions, the anatomical and physiological variants following childbirth and gynecological abnormalities not necessarily related to reproduction. The emotional aspects of genital development and prenatal and intra natal abnormalities and oncological aspects of reproductive tract. 

          Work in the wards and outpatient clinic is designed for providing practical experience in the method and techniques of examination and diagnosis. Students are assigned specific patients and take part in their prenatal care and management. Detailed clinical discussions of current clinical problems are held regularly with faculty, this experience constitutes the clerkship in Obs. & Gynae.

          Students participate in general prenatal care, conduct of labor and delivery and after care of patients. They are responsible for the preliminary history and examination of selected gynecological patients, assist in gynecological surgeries and participate in post operative care.

They learn to carry out investigations and to perform minor surgeries.
