The department of Pathology is headed by
Prof. A.H.Nagi and is actively involved in
both undergraduate (MBBS and BDS) and
postgraduate teaching programmes. The
department of pathology consists four
independent sections namely, histopathology,
haematology, microbiology and chemical
pathology.
Histopathology section: is
headed by Prof. A. H. Nagi. The section is
provisionally recognized by CPSP for FCPS
part-II training in histopathology.
Histopathology section has a state of the
art histopathology laboratory and receives
1000-1500 histopathology biopsy specimens
and 500 cytology specimens per year from the
attached GTTH hospital.
Haematology section: is headed
by Associate Professor, Dr. Zafar Iqbal
Raja. The section has a clinical haematology
laboratory at GTTH hospital and a student
laboratory at the college premises. Both
laboratories are adequately equipped for all
the routine and some special haematological
profile tests. The college’s blood bank is
also being supervised by the section.
Microbiology section: is
headed by Associate Professor, Dr. Shehla
Haroon. The section receives 1200-1500
specimens for microbilogical secreening from
GTTH hospital. The department has state of
the art laboratory is performing all the
major microbiological screening profile
including antibiotic sensitivity testing.
Chemical Pathology section: is
headed by Professor
Dr.
Muhammad Sarwar
Bhatti. It has a well-equipped Automatted
Clinical Lab at GTTH hospital and a
Student’s lab at the college premises.
Pathology Museum: The
department has a very extensive museum with
600 gross histopathology specimens from all
systems and covering almost all common
lesions for undergraduate and postgraduate
teaching. |
